  • LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

The Sun Identity Manager follows an enterprise licence model. The three components of the licence model include:

    1. A base licence fee
    2. A per-resource adapter fee (e.g. if a customer wants to manage accounts on 5 different resources, they need to purchase each of those resource adapters)
    3. A per-user fee based on usage. There are two per-user fee options. The extranet per-user fee and the enterprise per-user fee. The extranet per-user fee is used when a customer only needs to manage user accounts on a single directory and a single access control product. The per-user enterprise fee is used when a customer needs to manage user accounts on greater than 3 resources (e.g. LDAP, Oracle and AIX.). Both the Extranet and Enterprise per-user licence fee is tiered based on the number of licences purchased.

Additionally, there are three licence options so that customers have the flexibility to buy based on their most pressing identity management project and their budgets. This allows us the opportunity to capture phase one deals with the upside of future upgrades to full Identity Manager. These licence options include:

    1. Restricted use licence option for Password Management
    2. Restricted use licence option for Data Synchronisation (e.g. a meta-directory opportunity, where there is desire to provide automated data synchronisation between data sources, but workflow, self-service, delegated administration are not requirements would be a target for this licence option)
    3. Full licence to Identity Manager capabilities
